Call for Nominations to the FSC US Board of Directors

The Board of FSC-US works closely with the FSC-US staff to ensure effective oversight of the organization and to develop strategic objectives, tactics, and policies. FSC-US Board members also interact with the staff and board members of FSC International.

The time requirement for serving on the Board varies, but typically includes two (two-day) in-person meetings per year, a two-hour conference call every other month, and an average of four hours per month of committee work.  

FSC-US is calling for nominations for three available board positions (one economic, one environmental, one social). The elected FSC-US Board members whose terms are expiring are: 

• Mike Jani (Humboldt Redwood Company, economic chamber)
• Melanie Parker (Northwest Connections, social chamber)
• Fran Price (The Nature Conservancy, environmental chamber) 

The environmental chamber seat, previously held by Fran Price, became vacant earlier this year due to Fran’s election to the FSC International Board of Directors. Mike Jani has served two consecutive three-year terms and is therefore not eligible for re-election. Melanie Parker is eligible for nomination and re-election to the Board. FSC US offers our sincere thanks to the outgoing board members for their time and commitment.  

Process
Only FSC members, duly designated FSC representatives of member organizations in the U.S., or applicants for membership in good standing can be nominated for election to the FSC-US Board. A list of current members can be found here.

The call for nominations and seconds (two seconds are needed) is open from May 1st to June 13th, 2014. Nominations and seconds may be made on behalf of individuals from any chamber. Self-nominations (with required seconds) are also acceptable. Ballots will be circulated June 23rd and the voting will close on July 25th. All nominations and seconds must be in writing (using the nomination form) and sent by email.  

Schedule:
May 1 - Call for nominations and seconds for FSC-US Board of Directors
June 13  - Call for nominations closes
June 23 - Voting opens, ballots circulated
July 25 - Voting closes
