March 4, 2013

In February 2012 the FSC membership approved the first major revision to the FSC Principles and Criteria (P&C), marking the beginning of an important next phase in FSC’s work: development of International Generic Indicators (IGI) to serve as the basis of all FSC Forest Management Standards.

The purpose of the International Generic Indicators (IGIs) is to ensure consistent application of the P&C around the world.

The first Public Consultation on the International Generic Indicators is now open until April 30, 2013.

The initial draft for consultation includes Principles 1 to 5 and Principles 8 and 9. A second package will be available on March 1 with Principles 6, 7 and 10.

To participate and stay informed about the IGI process, FSC International developed an IGI website where you can access the draft indicators and stay informed about the process.

Or you can contact Dr. Gary Dodge (g.dodge@us.fsc.org) at FSC US.
