Ris Paper Company Achieves Group FSC Certification

The SmartWood Program of the Rainforest Alliance has announced the FSC chain-of-custody certification of Ris Paper Company, Inc. Ris Paper is headquartered in Florence, Kentucky. The Group chain-of-custody certification will cover Ris Paper’s 17 locations, including Johnston Paper in Cincinnati, OH, and facilities in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Southwest. Ris Paper’s sizeable network of distribution centers will now be able to provide high quality FSC-certified papers to the end-user market, as well as commercial and in-plant printers nationwide. read more …

New FSC Handbook Released

The Forest Management Trust has just released a new version of the FSC Handbook for Forest Management Certification in the Southeast United States. The handbook is a guide for landowners, forest managers, and forest product companies to FSC’s voluntary, third-party certification program. read more …

Additional Comment Period for the Appalachian Standard

The FSC-U.S. Standards Committee reviewed the Appalachian Standard in October and has provided an additional one-month public review period, open until December 6th. Approval of the Appalachian standard by the FSC-U.S. Board is expected in early 2003. read more …
