FSC'S General Assembly, November 3-7, Cape Town

Please join the FSC global community for the next General Assembly, Nov 3-7 2008, in Cape Town, South Africa. This is your chance to be heard in FSC decision-making, to share information with others in the FSC network, and to celebrate 15 years of success.

The triennial FSC General Assembly is the pivotal event for FSC. Members from the FSC social, economic and environmental chambers, along with other interested stakeholders, will come together in support of environmentally responsible, socially equitable and economically viable forest management. FSC expects over 400 participants from over 50 countries to attend this remarkable event. Let’s make sure that voice is given to issues of importance within the U.S.

In addition to the suite of motions that will be up for vote, side meetings and social gatherings will round out the Assembly. Topics include:

  • Review of FSC Principles & Criteria
  • FSC governance including the role of National Initiatives
  • Family forest certification
  • Ecosystem services accounting and valuation
  • Role of FSC certification in combating climate change
  • National Initiative and FSC-US side meetings
  • Field trips to nearby forests and forest products operations
