1. What motivated OXO to become an FSC Promotional License Holder, and how does FSC certification align with your broader sustainability goals across your brands?

OXO’s decision to become an FSC Promotional License Holder was driven by our commitment to transparency and increasing responsible sourcing for our product lines.

At OXO, we aim to design products that last, and that philosophy extends to the health of the planet. FSC aligns perfectly with our broader sustainability goals - specifically our dedication to environmental health as a member of 1% for the Planet, an organization that encourages businesses to donate at least 1% of their annual revenue to vetted environmental nonprofits. By prioritizing materials for some of our packaging and product lines from responsibly managed forests for some of our products, we help ensure that our product growth helps support global conservation, protects biodiversity, and meets the high standards of trust our customers expect when they see the FSC logo on our packaging.

2. Where do you see FSC-certified materials having the most impact in your operations today (e.g., packaging, paper products, textiles, etc.)?

Our most immediate impact has been through our packaging, where we successfully transitioned our OXO Outdoor line. Building on that momentum, we are now scaling our efforts by sourcing FSC-certified wood from FSC certified suppliers for our kitchen utensils and tools. This represents a key milestone in our roadmap as we actively look to expand product categories that we can promote as FSC certified in the future.

3. How do you communicate sustainability commitments like FSC to customers in a way that feels clear, credible, and actionable?

At OXO, we believe sustainability commitments should be simple and transparent. As an FSC Promotional License Holder, we communicate our support for healthy forests by featuring the trusted FSC logo where customers look most-on our packaging, product pages, and marketing materials. This provides immediate recognition of the responsible sourcing standards we prioritize.

Beyond the logo, we focus on "why." We use our platform to explain how choosing products made with materials from FSC-certified forests helps support global conservation and local communities. By integrating these stories into our social media and digital channels, we connect sustainability to everyday decisions. Our goal is to show customers that by looking for the FSC mark, they are making a choice that collectively contributes to a meaningful global difference.

4. What role do partnerships and supplier relationships play in advancing your responsible sourcing goals?

Partnerships are the backbone of our sustainability journey. We don’t just view our suppliers as vendors, but as critical collaborators to our goals. By working closely with partners who share our commitment to FSC standards, we ensure transparency throughout our supply chain. These relationships allow us to innovate with new materials and scale our responsible sourcing efforts more quickly than we could alone.

5. Looking ahead, how do you see FSC supporting your brands’ long-term environmental or climate commitments?

As a proud member of 1% for the Planet, OXO is dedicated to long-term environmental health. Our FSC Promotional License is a key component of this journey, as it allows us to highlight and prioritize products made with materials from responsibly managed forests.

Looking ahead, we see the FSC framework as a vital tool in our broader approach to climate action. By promoting responsibly sourced forest products, we support the protection of high-conservation-value forests and the biodiversity they hold. This commitment helps us build a more resilient and climate-conscious supply chain while ensuring a healthier planet for the future.

6. What advice would you give to other companies considering becoming FSC Promotional License Holders?

View the FSC Promotional License as a powerful bridge between your brand’s values and your customers' expectations. In a marketplace where consumers are looking for transparency, being a license holder allows you to use a globally recognized symbol of trust to communicate your commitment to responsible sourcing. Embrace the storytelling potential that the license provides; it is an opportunity to invite your community to support forest conservation through their purchasing power.

OXO’s perspective highlights how responsible sourcing can be both practical and inspiring when embedded into product development, supplier relationships, and customer engagement. Their continued efforts demonstrate how brands can use trusted frameworks like FSC to make sustainability more visible, meaningful, and actionable for consumers today while supporting healthier forests for the future.
