Each year, FSC conducts a market survey to examine market trends and gain insights into how FSC certification benefits our customers and different industries and regions. In 2012, 4,595 certificate holders participated in the survey.

One of the most interesting findings in the survey was that 98 percent of respondents “see the value that FSC certification adds to their products and businesses, and plan to keep their FSC certification.”

With responses from people in 94 countries, the Global Market Survey offers a chance for companies to better understand the FSC marketplace. Some notable findings:

  • Paper is the most frequently bought and sold FSC product.
  • Sales of FSC timber and sawn wood have increased, especially in Europe and North America where green building is a strong market driver.
  • There is high demand for more FSC fiberboard.
  • 55 percent of respondents plan to source more FSC materials than in the previous year.
