EarthSource Forest Products, a division of Plywood and Lumber Sales, Inc. (SW-COC-0026) of Emeryville, CA, was launched in 1997 to better meet the demand for certified wood. EarthSource now sells exclusively FSC-certified wood by keeping a large supply of certified hardwoods in their warehouse, in order to guarantee availability to their customers.
They have supplied certified wood to Banana Republic and Gap retail stores, Presidio Trust, the Packard Foundation, and the new city library in Berkeley, CA. They distribute certified products manufactured by States Industries, Mt. Baker Plywood, The Collins Companies, and Kane Hardwoods. In total, they possess about 200,000 board feet of certified hardwood lumber at any given time, along with a full line of certified hardwood plywood, particleboard, melamine, decking and flooring.
A sizable portion of their business is generated from architectural specification. They have developed business through partnerships with non-governmental organizations that support the FSC. FSC environmental chamber member SoundWood has helped them supply certified tropical wood to musical instrument makers, including Gibson Guitars, Modulus Guitars, and Greg Gaylord Drums.
