Maribeth Collins

Wins Conservation Award From The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy honored Maribeth Collins of The Collins Companies with its Lifetime Conservation Achievement Award at the fourth annual Conservation Leadership Awards luncheon this past October. Collins was recognized as a positive force for Oregon’s environment for four decades as a steward of the land and as the head of one of Oregon’s leading foundations.

Raised in an atmosphere of social activism, Collins married a visionary timber owner who began practicing forward-looking forest management decades before anyone else. In 1964 she took the helm of both the family business and the family foundation while raising four children. She currently chairs the board of the Collins Companies and is president of the Collins Foundation.

As part of its leadership in sustainable practices within the industry, The Collins Companies adopted the framework of The Natural Step as part of its Journey to Sustainability program.

The Natural Step is an international organization promoting the conservation of natural resources by moving away from wasteful, methods of materials handling and manufacturing processes.

The Collins Companies, Portland, Oregon-based and family-owned since 1855, produces high quality wood products including softwood lumber, hardwood lumber, siding and trim, and particleboard. Collins also features a full line of FSC-certified wood products, and owns FSC-certified forestlands in CA, OR and PA covering approximately 300,000 acres.
