FSC-US Begins Election Process For Board of Directors

FSC-US will begin this year’s Board election process with a call for nominations beginning on April 26th. Voting will be held in June, and new Directors will ultimately take office on August 1st.

The Board of FSC-US works closely with the President and the senior management team to develop strategic objectives, tactics, and policies. FSC-US Board members are periodically asked to represent the organization in public forums on certification.

FSC-US Board members interact frequently with the staff and board members of FSC International and FSC Canada. The FSC-US Board needs strong leaders and team players during this period of increasing competitive pressure, high expectations of FSC stakeholders and steady growth. Furthermore, FSC International’s leadership relies on strong national initiatives, such as in the U.S., to help build a stronger FSC worldwide.

The Director’s whose terms are expiring are Paul Harlan (Economic Chamber), Barbara Bramble (Environmental Chamber), and Joshua Dickinson (Social Chamber). Each of these Directors is eligible for re-election for a second term. There is also an additional seat available for a period of one year in the Environmental Chamber, due to an earlier resignation. This seat will then be available for election again in June 2005, when the term was initially scheduled to expire.

To be eligible for nomination, a person must be either an individual member of FSC, the designated representative for an organizational member of FSC, or an applicant for membership in good standing. Please note that being a member is not the same affiliation as being a certificate holder. Candidates also cannot be the representatives of certification bodies.

Current members will begin receiving election materials via email by April 26th. If you have questions about the election process, please contact Kim Parvez at kparvez@fscus.org. If you have questions about membership, or would like to apply for membership in FSC, please contact Katie Miller at kmiller@fscus.org.
