Kinko’s Adds First FSC-Certified Paper

Kinko’s Inc. will now be offering its first FSC-certified paper product in each of its retail locations. The ENVIRONMENT Ultra Bright White® brand paper, manufactured by Neenah Paper, contains a minimum of 20 percent FSC-certified fiber. The remainder is post-consumer fiber. Kinko’s also added Neenah Paper’s 100-percent post-consumer fiber ENVIRONMENT® line for six of its resume, executive and cardstock paper offerings.

The FSC-certified paper will be featured in Kinko’s paper selection swatch book, and is displayed with the FSC logo. The swatch book is available at all Kinko’s retail locations, making the paper available for order to all Kinko’s customers.

“Earlier this year, Kinko’s introduced our Forest-based Product Procurement Policy, which incorporates a strict set of vendor requirements and establishes a central set of recycled content standards," said Larry Rogero, Kinko’s director of environmental affairs. “Today, Kinko’s marks a major milestone in our pursuit of a sustainable future with the introduction of our first FSC-certified stock and six other environmentally improved Neenah Paper selections."

Kinko’s selection of these environmentally improved papers is part of its Global Commitment to generate economic, social and environmental value today while ensuring access to these same values for future generations. The introduction of an FSC-certified selection is the first step toward Kinko’s long-term plan to purchase only forest-based products from suppliers that have independently third-party certified, well-managed forests.

FSC-US president Roger Dower said that, “we are extremely excited that Kinko’s has chosen to add FSC-certified paper to their stock. The commitment of a large, well-known corporation such as Kinko’s goes a long way in establishing FSC as an environmentally and socially responsible choice. We hope to see others follow suit."

Kinko’s history includes a long-standing dedication to protecting the environment. Recent developments include Kinko’s Global Commitment, which sets standards for sustainable business practices that generate economic, social and environmental value today and for future generations. One of those standards is Kinko’s Forest-based Products Procurement Policy. Initiatives also include continuous improvement in energy conservation, buying renewable energy, using and promoting the sale of recycled products and minimizing and recycling waste.
