Continued Gains in FSC-Certified Printin

Bresler Printing, of Utica, NY, and Anderson Lithograph, of Los Angeles, CA, have become the most recent additions to the fast-growing family of FSC-certified printers. Both companies can now make use of the FSC logo on projects printed on FSC-certified paper

Bresler Printing, a commercial printer specializing in process color with full bindery services, has become the third printer in the U.S. to receive FSC Chain-of-Custody certification. The certification was performed by SmartWood, a program of the Rainforest Alliance.

Bresler is committed to environmentally friendly products and processes, including the use of soy and vegetable based inks. Also, instead of sending out printing press wash, a chemical used to clean printing presses, and wash-up rags to the local waste processing plant, they utilize a wash station to capture any solvents and recycle the rags and fluid. Jon Bresler, president of Bresler Printing, stated that, “we believe that business profits and environmental protection go hand in hand. Sustaining our business means sustaining the forests that support it. The FSC certification program means that our kids—and their kids—can have the same healthy business that we have today."

Bresler competes in the New York City and Boston markets. Their clients are primarily businesses and educational institutions. Examples of their work include stationery for the Census Bureau and magazines for NASA.

Anderson Lithograph recently became the fourth printer to be certified under the FSC system, and the only one that is located on the west coast. The certification, which was performed by Scientific Certification Systems, applies to their facilities in Los Angeles and South San Francisco.

Obtaining FSC certification is the latest link in a growing chain of environmental accomplishments by Anderson Lithograph. John Fosmire, Chairman of Anderson Lithograph, stated that, “the FSC Chain-of-Custody certification reflects our commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices within our own facility, as well as with our business partners in the paper community. Anderson Lithograph’s certification provides our customers with an additional option to help reduce the environmental impact of their printed materials."

Anderson Lithograph, a Mail-Well Company, is a high-end commercial printer that supports the printed marketing needs of a range of organizations, from the Fortune 500 to non-profit groups. For more information of their services, please visit www.andlitho.com.
