Each year at the US Green Building Council’s Greenbuild, the Forest Stewardship Council US recognizes the best commercial and residential buildings, based on use of FSC-certified products.

FSC is currently accepting applications for the 2013 Design & Build with FSC Awards and we encourage design teams, building owners, contractors and others working on building projects with FSC wood.

Award winning projects demonstrate that wood from responsibly managed forests can meet all design and construction needs. Selection criteria include the amount of FSC-certified wood used, innovation and efforts to advance market transformation.

2012 award winners included the Bullitt Center in Seattle, which is the first FSC Project Certified commercial building, and Big Rock Cottage in the US Virgin islands which attained 5-Star Tropical Green Building Certification.

In 2011, winning projects included the Hawaii Preparatory Academy Energy Research Lab, a certified Living Building that used 100 percent FSC-certified wood, and zHome, 10-unit zero net energy townhome development in the Seattle suburb of Issaquah, where 78 percent of wood used was FSC certified.
