Two new FSC-US board members appointed

January 4, 2013

FSC US is pleased to announce two additional members who were appointed to its Board of Directors, Dogwood Alliance’s Executive Director Danna Smith and John Fenderson, the Southeast Regional Director for the National Network of Forest Practitioners (NNFP).

Nine FSC directors (three from each chamber) are elected by US members of FSC and serve three year terms. The elected board may at its discretion appoint up to six additional directors (two from each chamber), also for three year terms. Appointments are generally made to bring diverse perspectives, expertise and experiences to the FSC-US Board.

Danna Smith co-founded Dogwood Alliance in 1996 and brings with her an extensive background in grassroots organizing and a deep knowledge of forest communities in the southern U.S. She joins the board’s environmental chamber with strong negotiation and collaboration skills.

John Fenderson joined the NNFP staff in 2010 and oversees development of a forestry support network for under-served landowners in the southeastern U.S. To the board's social chamber he brings 25 years of experience in forestry from California to Alaska to the Southeast, as well as time on the boards of two Tennessee environmental groups.

Please see the documents below to read John's and Danna's bios and position statements.

Thank you to all of our board members for their leadership, guidance, and commitment to FSC.
