Saunatec begins making FSC-certified saunas
On December 7, 2011, Saunatec earned FSC Chain of Custody certification (SCS-COC-003968) and will begin producing saunas using FSC-certified lumber upon request. Saunatec’s divisions, Amerec, Finnleo, Helo, Tylo US, Polar, and McCoy Sauna & Steam, will each offer sauna room packages with FSC-certified lumber.
Saunatec stated that FSC certification was in response to the increasing desire from architects, contractors, & owners to include green building practices in construction. Saunatec’s FSC certification demonstrates a commitment to purchase wood from responsibly managed forests. FSC-certified sauna rooms contribute toward LEED credits, as well as numerous other green building programs.Features of Saunatec’s FSC-certified saunas include:
- FSC-certified tongue and groove boards for the walls and ceiling
- Benches constructed using FSC-certified S4S wood for bench tops and internal framing.
- Heater guard rail and sauna trim/moulding manufactured of FSC materials
- All-glass door hung on FSC-certified door jamb
