CWPA Membership Offers Great Benefit to FSC Certificate Holders

While FSC works to set standards for forest certification, the Certified Wood & Paper Association, a 501(c)6 trade association based in Portland, OR, is doing the important work of delivering further economic value to FSC certificate holders by increasing opportunities for revenue and profits from your investment in FSC certification through the rapidly growing ‘green’ building movement.

CWPA focuses largely on matching market demand to supply of FSC-certified products. They work directly with architects, designers and specifiers to take the complexity out of specifying certified wood products that comply with LEED and other ‘green’ building requirements. CWPA then helps them source from FSC certified companies, placing their members at the top of the list. They also track LEED and other ‘green’ projects, and connect members with those opportunities.

CWPA also works to help improve sales efficiency of FSC-certified wood products. They offer consulting and customized on-site trainings to teach sales teams of their members to be more effective and knowledgeable about these products.

CWPA provides many resource tools to their members, such as the online Green Building Project Tracker. This database provides members with exclusive access to dozens of LEED and other green building projects. It provides important information such as project name, products needed, location, estimated bid dates, and estimated construction dates. CWPA also represents their members by attending tradeshows relevant to the green building industry. CWPA’s attendance at tradeshows and conferences allow their members to have a presence at these important marketing opportunities without actually having to physically be there.

Other resource tools include architectural training workshops and presentations, free consultation for project teams, and a FSC-certified wood product finder. These resources can be found on their website: www.cwpa.info.
