Hayward Named ProSales Magazine’s 2003 Dealer of the Year
Prosales Calls Hayward a Ground Breaker that Leads by Example
ProSales, a monthly trade magazine for the construction supply industry, has named Hayward their 2003 Dealer of the Year. The award was announced in the January 2004 issue.
The editorial staff of ProSales selects the Dealer of the Year award. The magazine tracks and monitors the performance and contributions of the construction supply industry’s most influential and progressive companies in areas including supply chain partnerships, new market expansion, profitability, technology and community outreach. The Dealer of the Year is then selected based on an evaluation of the criteria and a vote by the editors of ProSales.
The ProSales Dealer of the Year is a leader who is not only exploring the future trends of lumber and building material supply, but also actively initiating creative business practices that epitomize progressive materials distribution. “As the 2003 Dealer of the Year, Bill Hayward reflects these core business values in many ways. His company is forging ahead with fresh ideas, manufacturing ingenuity, and environmentally friendly thinking that we haven’t seen anywhere else in the industry,” says Lisa Clift, Editor of ProSales.
“I am greatly honored to receive this award. It represents the hard work of our employee team members and the power of a sustainable business model. As market forces continue to wrangle greater efficiencies from independent dealers, a sustainable business model lends itself to what have traditionally been our greatest assets—local ownership, little internal bureaucracy, and employees who truly care about our customers, our communities, our companies and the natural resources from which we derive our income” commented Bill Hayward, President & CEO, and Chief Sustainability Officer.
“Both the truss facility and the design center demonstrate Hayward’s thirst for new construction markets and customer segments, Hayward’s execution of state-of-the-art facilities in terms of design and operational metrics, and Hayward’s unwavering commitment to address environmentally friendly alternatives and the economic development and investment in the communities that they operate in” said Chris Wood, Senior Editor, of ProSales.
Hayward has been supplying products, services, and solutions to the construction market since 1919. The company has grown to include seven locations operating in Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties, as well as five Hayward Design Centers, Hayward Building Systems, a roof and floor truss manufacturing facility, and Hayward Millwork, a door manufacturing facility.
Hayward has been an FSC chain-of-custody (COC) certificate holder since 1998, and was the first full-line lumberyard in California to stock FSC-certified lumber. Scientific Certification Systems issued the certificate. Recently, Hayward opened the world’s only solar-powered truss and wall panel plant, for which it received a LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Among the credits earned to receive the LEED certification, was, of course, the certified wood credit.
