Bud Selig receives an FSC-certified baseball bat

On September 5-7 in Seattle, 400 leaders from professional sports teams, stadiums and affiliated businesses gathered to discuss ways to improve environmental performance in sports.  Organized by the Green Sports Alliance, the second annual Summit was a resounding success.

And for FSC, it was one of the most transformational events in which we have participated.

While FSC had a strong presence throughout the event - all materials were on FSC-certified paper, FSC was an opening night sponsor, and we had a booth in the exhibition - the highlight of the event was a presentation of an FSC-certified baseball bat to Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig.

The bat, which was hard maple and specially engraved for the Summit - was manufactured by Combat Sports Group (FSC-CO81720). In front of the entire crowd, Scott Jenkins, Vice President of Ballpark Operations for the Seattle Mariners and Safeco Field and Chair of the Green Sports Alliance Board of Directors, presented the bat to Commissioner Selig.

In addition, FSC, the Green Sports Alliance and Combat Sports had custom FSC-certified bats made for all Alliance Board Members. It's an unusual event where attendees are roaming the halls, baseball bats in hand. Needless to say, FSC's presence was well recognized.

In addition to the bats, FSC's booth included products from Kimberly-Clark Professional, Grow Anthology, American Seating, Connor Sports Flooring and others, showing the attendees the many ways they can specify FSC-certified products in their operations and marketing.

Congratulations to Green Sports Alliance for such a successful event and thank you to the FSC-certified companies who provided products for us to show.
