FSC launches Lake States Regional Initiative

FSC-US is pleased to announce the launch of our latest regional development initiative, FSC Lakes States, which will offer FSC stakeholders in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan a forum for growing the regional FSC marketplace and certified forestland base.

The countrywide development of regional initiatives is a major goal for FSC-US over the coming years, for the simple reason that most activity in the forest products industry takes place at the regional level.

In 2011, Lake States efforts will focus on development of a Regional Steering Committee and strategic plan, with the intent of bringing on a regional manager in 2012 to implement the plan. Emily Crumley, the FSC-US Chain of Custody Manager based in our Minneapolis National Office, will oversee the initiative. One of the first efforts of the Lake States Regional Initiative is attending and exhibiting at the third annual Building Green Conference in Duluth, MN on February 3rd, 2011.

FSC Lake States follows on the successful launch of FSC Northwest in Washington, Oregon and southern British Columbia in 2008, which will expand to include Idaho in 2011. FSC also plans to launch a Southeastern Initiative this spring, including the hiring of a regional manager, and is developing the resources for a California-focused initiative scheduled to launch later this year.
