RSVP by June 1: US Member Meeting, Preparing for October General Assembly

FSC North American Regional Member Meeting, New York City, 2017

May 12, 2017

To prepare for the 2017 General Assembly in Vancouver, BC, a meeting of US-based FSC members will be held July 11th in Minneapolis. We strongly encourage all FSC members to join us.

The meeting agenda will focus on motions submitted for the General Assembly, along with decisions about priorities, chamber breakout meetings, and strategies for achieving successful outcomes.

We’ll also take the opportunity to share progress on FSC US’ current strategic plan as well as seek recommendations for the next planning cycle beginning in 2018. More information about the agenda and logistics will be shared with US-based members soon.

RSVPs are requested by June 1 to Lauren Satterlee (l.satterlee@us.fsc.org).

By June 16, please reserve your hotel room for the evening of July 10 in the discounted room block (The Hotel Minneapolis Autograph Collection, $109 per night): Book Online or call Central Reservations Office (open 24/7) at 888-717-8853 or to the hotel directly (M-F 9am-5pm) at 612-340-2000. Note participation in the FSC or Forest Stewardship Council Member Meeting to receive the discounted rate.

As a member-led organization, the General Assembly is FSC’s top decision-making body. Convened every three years, the GA offers an opportunity for members from around the world to propose motions, gather, debate and ultimately vote on the organization’s governance, policies and changes to standards.

This year, the 8th FSC General Assembly will take place on October 8-13 in Vancouver.

May 15 is the registration deadline to secure the 'early bird' rate as well as to request a subsidy.

For certified companies, NGOs, tribes and governments that are not currently members but are interested in having a voice in the FSC system, we encourage you to consider becoming a member in advance of the General Assembly. Read more about membership.

In addition, observers are allowed to participate in the General Assembly, with some limitations. For example, observers can attend the conference sessions and side meetings but may not vote on motions.

For members who have proposed motions, the deadline to resubmit revised motions is May 12, 2017.

New for 2017, Proposers and Seconders of a motion must represent the three FSC Chambers. In other words, there must be at least one proposer or seconder from each chamber for every submitted motion.

Please email info@us.fsc.org if you have not received any information about the General Assembly, or if you have any questions.
