Fountain Forestry Becomes FSC-Certified Resource Manager

The SmartWood program of the Rainforest Alliance recently announced that Fountain Forestry has been granted Resource Manager certification under the FSC. Fountain is now the largest FSC-certified Resource Manager in the Eastern U.S., with 35 properties in New Hampshire, Vermont and New York included in the certificate. Property sizes range from less than 44 to 26,859 acres and total 67,547 acres.

“FSC certification has enabled Fountain Forestry to broaden its capabilities and become truly a full-service forestry company," said Bruce Jacobs, Fountain Forestry’s President. “We chose FSC certification because of its international credibility and recognition, and the SmartWood program for certified Resource Managers as a cost effective way to extend the opportunity for certification to all our clients."

Fountain Forestry Incorporated has been in operation since 1980, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of “fountains plc," a U.K. based environmental support services company providing forestry, landscaping and utility services. Fountain Forestry is a forest management and consulting firm that provides forestry related services to private landowners, investors and the forest products industry. Services include forest management planning and implementation, forestry investment analysis, timber valuation and marketing, forest property appraisal and sales, and full technical and accounting support. Fountain’s U.K.-based sister company received FSC certification in 2001. Further information about Fountain Forestry can be found atwww.fountainforestry.com.
