Letter from the President
Hey there,
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for entrusting me with the privilege of leading this incredible organization. It truly means the world to me to be at the helm of a cause that resonates so deeply with my own values. Our mission to champion responsible forest management couldn’t be more aligned with my own personal compass.
Just last week, our FSC US board and leadership staff gathered in sunny (sometimes) Pensacola, Florida to hash out our wins and lay down some strategic groundwork for 2024 and beyond. We had the chance to swing by RMS, a standout forest management certificate holder with operations in Florida. What in inspiring visit it was! Witnessing firsthand the restoration efforts for longleaf pine and effective management of loblolly pine was nothing short of remarkable. Huge shoutout to Jimmy Bullock and his amazing team for hosting us and giving us the grand tour. They are just one shining example of the incredible work happening within our network. Can’t wait for the next adventure!
Of course, it’s no secret that FSC faces its fair share of challenges. If you’re reading this – you already know we can achieve more. Count me in that camp too. We are making strides folks, hang in with us.
In the meantime, we’ve got some great initiatives in the pipeline for this year, and I would love for you to join us at our regional meeting in October to hear more, happening in the heart of Nashville. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it.
And hey, if you’ve got any burning concerns or brilliant ideas bouncing around in your head, my door – or rather, my inbox – is always open. Shoot me an email at s.billig@us.fsc.org. Let’s chat. I’m all ears and eager to hear what’s on your mind.
Looking forward to making waves together. Let’s go!
Cheers!
Sarah
