New Trademark License Holder Profile: Neighbor Furniture

Outdoor furniture retailer Neighbor was founded by friends Nick Arambula, Chris Lee, and Mike Fretto, who met while working at Tuft & Needle. They each had shared values of craftmanship, sustainability, and connection with a desire to design outdoor furniture that looks like it belongs in your living room, while also able to withstand the forces of nature.

The desire to have furniture “built for a long life outdoors” also highlights their push for sustainability being at the core of all they do, including sourcing teak wood for their modular frames from FSC certified forests, “because we want future generations to be able to enjoy the outdoors as much as we do.” With teak being a high-demand species due to its durability and water resistant qualities, over harvesting is always a concern. But by using FSC-certified teak, Neighbor believes customers can feel good knowing they are promoting sustainable forest management.

While wood sourcing is obviously a large part of both the quality and sustainability story of Neighbor, they also focus this level of detail in every material they use, “right down to the hardware”, which is marine grade.
