Appalachian Regional Standards Public Comment Period Opens

The public comment period for the FSC Appalachian Regional Standards began July 23rd, 2002 and is open through Sept. 23rd, 2002. The Appalachian Regional Standards were developed to provide forest owners and certifiers guidelines for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification in the Appalachian region.

The current draft of the Appalachian Standards is provided for public review prior to final editing and submission for FSC-U.S. Board approval and final FSC approval. All comments received will be considered for implementation into the final draft of the standards. Comments on overall ideas are welcome, and specific suggestions for modifications to the language are most helpful.

Comments can be made via the FSC standards website at www.fscstandards.org or via fax to Ben Addlestone at 707.825.0536, or through the mail to FSC-U.S., 391/2 South G Street, Arcata, CA 95521. Specific comments can be directed to Jeff Stringer, the regional coordinator for these standards, at stringer@uky.edu and 859.257.5994.
