€1 Million Dutch Postcode Lottery Grant to Accelerate Responsible Forest Management

March 27, 2019

The Forest Stewardship Council has been awarded a €1 million grant from the Dutch Postcode Lottery (Nationale Postcode Loterij), the largest charity lottery in the Netherlands, to support digital innovations at FSC International.

This new grant, made possible by money raised by Dutch Postcode Lottery players, will be used to invest in technologies that create stronger incentives for responsible forest management through certification for forest owners of all sizes and types, all over the world.

“We all recognize the vital and urgent need for responsible forestry and understand that this is an important step in combatting carbon emissions and fighting climate change,’’ said Margriet Schreuders, Head of the Charities department of the Dutch Postcode Lottery. ‘’We believe the Dutch Postcode Lottery players will be pleased that they have supported this cause.’’

“We are thrilled to have received this support thanks to Dutch Postcode Lottery players,” said Kim Carstensen, FSC Director General. “For over two decades, FSC has proven itself a powerful tool for accelerating responsible forestry, generating numerous social, economic, and environmental benefits. But we have more to do and I am confident the ‘Forest For All Forever’ project will support our cause. Urgent action is needed to address the increasing threats of climate change and meet the commitments of the 2030 Agenda.’’

Congratulations to the teams at FSC International and FSC Investments & Partnerships who helped secure this grant award.
