2015 Green Home of the Year Awards - Call for Entries

July 21, 2015

Green Builder® magazine is once again on the lookout for the best green homes that include sustainable features, innovative design, whole home performance, and integration with the natural environment.

Last year’s winners included projects from all over the country and displayed the latest and greatest in building science, energy efficiency and smart site development.

The awards program is broken up into three main categories:

In the Mainstream Green Category the total project must be less than 3,500 square ft. (or 800 square ft. per occupant) with a HERS rating of 50 or better.

The Alternative Building Technology Category requires some type of alternative building technology such as SIPs or ICFs be used in the construction of the project.

The General Category accepts all custom, production, remodeling/restoration, community and multifamily projects. There are no size limitations.

We designed the General Category for everyone who has a project that may not fit specifically into a preconceived category,” says Green Builder Media Project Manager, Heather Wallace. “There’s much more freedom to enter a project that is simply built sustainably.”

Project must be residential and should have a grand opening or first occupancy of January 2014 – July 2015.

Projects using FSC-certified wood are encouraged to apply.

“We believe our communities will not be saved by heroic feats of technology, or design, or government intervention,” says 2014 Grand Overall Winner, Tom Elliott. “Ultimately, our choices in the world are a personal matter, and the future will be insured only through countless individual acts of forbearance, care and innovation.”

Deadline for entries is July 24, 2015 and can be submitted online HERE
