FSC Proved a Great Presence at AIA

AIA Conference Booth

Thousands of Architects At Annual Conference Learn about Importance of FSC

Earlier this month, FSC-US exhibited for the second year in a row, with the help of sponsorships from several FSC certificate holders, at the annual conference and exposition of the American Institute for Architects (AIA). The conference is the premiere conference of the design and construction industry, and drew more than 24,000 professionals to the Los Angeles Convention Center for three days of workshops and learning about products offered by more than 800 exhibitors.

Visitors to the FSC-US booth were largely already familiar with FSC certification. Many were interested in learning about products available in their area, and how to specify FSC-certified products in their building projects. As further evidence of growth of the FSC system in the past few years, very few booth visitors were completely unaware of FSC certification.

About a dozen FSC chain-of-custody certificate holders also had their own booths at the expo. Lowen, a Canadian window and door manufacturer, displayed an advertisement on the back page of the convention program and used this exceptional opportunity to promote their FSC certification to all conference attendees and exhibitors.

The 2007 AIA National Convention and Design Expo will take place May 3-5, 2007 in San Antonio, TX. As a sure sign that environmentally-friendly building has gone main stream, next year’s theme is “Growing Beyond Green.” AIA states that this theme will enable the organization to acknowledge its responsibility to the future and prepare its members to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
