FSC US Hosts Pacific Northwest Regional Meeting
FSC US leadership met with Forest Management Certificate Holders and other interested parties in downtown Seattle on August 1, 2024 for an in-depth presentation and dialog.
New President Sarah Billig provided attendees with insights into the current state of FSC US and her objectives for the organization through the end of 2025. Mark Smith, Executive Director of FSC Investments & Partners, discussed how his group is supporting FSC US in advancing the organization’s objectives by fostering innovative partnerships with corporations like Amazon and ESRI.
Shawn Collier, Director of Marketing, shared how FSC US is working with promotional license holders and certificate holders to change the public narrative by focusing on FSC success stories across the supply chain.
Amy Clark Eagle, Director of Science and Certification, detailed how the revised Forest Stewardship Standard is advancing and the benefits it is likely to provide current and future certificate holders. She also provided updates on climate ecosystem services offerings and the tools FSC has developed to assist certificate holders in complying with EUDR.
This was the first in an ongoing series of quarterly regional meetings FSC US will be holding across the country. The next one is being hosted Monday, September 16 in Loveland, Colorado – one day ahead of the SAF 2024 National Convention, where FSC US will also be exhibiting and presenting on Climate Ecosystem Services for small landholders.
