FSC at Sustainable Brands, Living Future, and Green Sports Alliance Summit

With the Spring conference season upon us, the Forest Stewardship Council will be participating in several upcoming events.

At Living Future in Seattle, FSC will be hosting a booth in the tradeshow to meet with design and construction leaders and answer questions about sourcing FSC-certified products. Since the Living Building Challenge requires all wood products to be FSC certified, reclaimed or recycled, we are participating to support project teams around the world. Over the past few months we have been asking suppliers of FSC-certified building products to better convey product availability. This resource will be shared with project teams at Living Future.

In addition, Living Buildings are excellent candidates for the FSC Leadership Awards. Winning projects in past years include the Bullitt Center, Phipps Center for Sustainable Landscapes, Etsy, Hampshire College’s Kern Center, and Hawaii Preparatory Academy.

Sustainable Brands is moving to Detroit this year, and FSC will be there to meet with corporate partners from around the country. As the premiere venue convening marketing, CSR and procurement professionals, Sustainable Brands provides an excellent opportunity to meet with partners and support their efforts. As a sponsor, FSC can offer a 20% discount and it’s not too late to register. We are especially excited to check out the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative, which used FSC-certified wood in construction.

This year the Green Sports Alliance Summit is being held in Sacramento, home to the Golden 1 Center, the world’s first indoor sports venue to earn LEED Platinum certification. All wood in the Golden 1 Center is FSC certified, an important accomplishment.
