Describe the focus of your work: Collaborating with global institutions, businesses, nonprofits, and community partners in achieving sustainable development goals.

Location & scope of work: Throughout out my career, I have worked alongside incredible Indigenous and local communities and have had the privilege of building meaningful relationships across cultures. Together we have solved a variety of challenges including wildlife conservation in India, water use and climate change in the Caribbean, gender and agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa, and building artificial glaciers in the Himalayas.

I recently started a position with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation in Seattle, WA on their Global Burden of Disease (GBD) project. The GBD provides a tool to quantify health loss from hundreds of diseases, injuries, and risk factors, so that health systems can be improved and disparities can be eliminated.

Date joined FSC: November 27, 2017

Why FSC is important to you?
I became an FSC member because I was excited about your market-led approach to sustainable development and your governance structure that empowers stakeholders. FSC certification has become the benchmark for responsible forest management. It also serves as a model for other industries pursuing greater sustainability. As a member, I look forward to contributing my experience working with global institutions and Indigenous communities to continue to strengthen FSC’s system.
