In its recent corporate social responsibility report, Coca Cola Enterprises (CCE) – one of the largest independent bottlers in the world, operating in Europe – committed to, “have all of our cardboard and corrugate packaging FSC certified by the end of 2015.”

This goal is admirably ambitious, given the scale of CCE operations and the rapidly approaching deadline, but the report notes that they have already made “significant progress.”

Sections in the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Report 2014/2015 include energy and climate change, sustainable packaging and recycling, water stewardship, and sustainable sourcing, among others. Overall, CCE commits to reduce the carbon footprint of its core business operations by 50 percent and to sustainably source 100 percent of its key agricultural ingredients by 2020.

The Forest Stewardship Council US applauds CCE for its forward-looking approach and strong progress.
