The Design & Build with FSC Awards recognize excellence and innovation in the use of FSC-certified building materials in residential and commercial design and construction. The awards honor commitment to using FSC-certified wood and creating a marketplace that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically prosperous management of the world's forests. 

Starting this year, the Design & Build Awards have been incorporated into the FSC Leadership Awards. Please watch our newsletter in the coming months for more information about applying for the 2015 awards.

In 2014, the Design & Build Award winners included the following:  

Washington State University Visitor Center
Pullman, Washington
Winner: Creativity and Innovation
Gross square feet: 4,277 square-feet
Owner: Washington State University
Architect: Olson Kundig Architects
General Contractor: Sellen Construction
Sustainability Consultant: Sellen Sustainability  

The WSU Visitor Center incorporates FSC-certified cross-laminated timber (CLT) structural roof panels, glulam beams, I-joist engineered beams and LVL engineered members.  

Kum & Go Convenience Stores
100+ stores across Midwestern US
Winner: Market Transformation
Grosss quare feet: 1.2 Million square-feet in 100 stores
Owner: Kum & Go
Architecture and Interior Design: Shiffler Associates
General Contractor: Henning Construction, LLC  

Kum & Go uses a minimum of 95% of all wood-based materials that are FSC certified, based on cost. Kum & Go is the first and only convenience retailer in the LEED Volume program.

FSC-certified wood makes up 85% of the new wood used in Levi’s Stadium. FSC-certified products are a key component of the Citrix Owners Club at Levi’s Stadium. The wood found as wall coverings throughout this exclusive suite was reclaimed from a hangar at nearby Moffett Field.
