Thank you for Greenbuild 2014

October 28, 2014

Under bright Louisiana sunshine, thousands of exhibitors and attendees flocked to New Orleans last week for the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo at the Morial Convention Center.

In addition to our awards celebration, FSC also unveiled a beautiful new booth in the Expo Hall, designed Alayna Fritz and Lonnie Bennett, who won our 2014 student design competition. Made entirely of FSC-certified wood, including plywood panels generously donated by RoyOMartin, the booth was a real crowd pleaser.

To draw in the crowds, FSC showcased a variety of certified products, including beautiful furniture donated by Gary Weeks & Company (Wimberly, TX) and Sheldon Labs (Crystal Springs, MS). Adding to the fun, we also featured hammerschlagen, a game involving hitting a nail into a tree cookie with the wedge of a blacksmith’s hammer.

In addition to recognizing award winners at our 10th Annual Design & Build with FSC celebration, we were honored to have Rita Benson LeBlanc welcome the crowd to New Orleans. As the owner of the New Orleans Saints (and New Orleans Pelicans), the crowd was star struck by both her words and her Super Bowl ring.

This year’s awards celebration was co-hosted with the Green Sports Alliance and World Wildlife Fund.
